One part of this chapter I find particularly interesting is the section on time. For another class I'm in this semester we are required to read Edward T. Hall's "The Dance of Life, The Other Dimensions of Time," where Hall introduces the concept that there is such thing as more than one kind of time.
As far as Gonzalez and Zimbardo's time perspectives go, I think the perspective I relate to most is the 'Future, daily planning' perspective. As the book states on page 123, these respondents "are obsessed with controlling the details of day-to-day events. They are the list makers and daily planners who map out their lives in specific detail." I actually laughed when I read this because I am such a list maker. I even have a sheet of paper pinned to the message board in my room where I wrote down my daily goals in terms of hours (i.e. sleep for 8 hours, do homework for 3 hours, exercise for 1 hour, etc.). Although I like spontaneity and doing random fun things, they are still usually somehow scheduled. For example Wednesdays are my fun days. Since I don't have work and only an hour of class on Wednesdays I usually plan to do something fun on those days. I always kind of thought of list makers as people who like to control, but I think the main reason I have this time perspective is that I like the feeling I get when I accomplish a personal goal and writing a list of things to do everyday is like accomplishing lots of mini goals.

I am completely opposite from you and like doing things last minute and spur the moment all the time. My girlfriend is very much like you in the aspect that she needs to have control over everything. She likes to plan everything out and has a schedule for just about everything. Sometimes I have to tell her just to do stuff on a whim. Given that I am an unorganized person, the fact that my girlfriend is very organized really helps me out. I am not the most organized person, but she has rubbed offf on me a little bit and this benefits me.
